Stephen Norman has been appointed managing director of Vauxhall Motors and Opel Ireland as it targets growth under the ownership of PSA Group.
He will report to Peter Christian Kuespert, sales, marketing and aftersales managing director of Opel/Vauxhall.
Norman joined PSA Group in 2014 as chief marketing officer and was appointed senior vice-president, chief sales and marketing officer, in 2016.
In this new capacity, he will be responsible for leading Vauxhall Motors and Opel Ireland business development.
He succeeds Rory Harvey, who has elected to leave the business at the end of February.
Vauxhall, which was sold to PSA Group last year, suffered a 22% decline in UK car sales in 2017, which saw it fall to third place in the annual sales charts behind Volkswagen, which took second place behind Ford.
Vauxhall Motors and Opel Ireland are currently implementing Opel’s new strategic plan, PACE!, aimed at the business becoming profitable, electric and global.
